TIOGA DAN BIO:
GOT GUITAR?
I am not so much a painter as an artist who paints. I wanted
to be an artist from an early age and entered the world of “professional
artist” at age 14 when I placed second in a regional college sponsored art show
and was awarded a small cash prize. I had begun to play music a couple of years
earlier and eventually made a career of it. I am trained in music (ba summa cum
laude-Roanoke, graduate work at North Texas in jazz
studies) but am completely self-taught as a painter. I have lived as an artist
most of my adult life with all the strange trappings. I still write fairly regularly and I just got my Marshall (model 1959) back... so if you want a player to do more than clone Clapton or Vaughn, call me. Hope you like the paintings.

GETTING TO KNOW THE ARTIST
_Tioga
Dan (AKA Dan Sloane) chose to make a life in Tioga, Texas, a small
rural north Texas town. A Virginia transplant, he now resides there with
his wife, Janet and son, Isaac, who also is a budding artist and
musician. Dan is known to be unconventional in his approach to
life...and makes no apologies for it. Having never met a stranger, he
easily opens himself up conversationally as well as his home to all who
come by. If you are ever near Tioga, drop by and say "hi". You may find
him working on his '51 Hudson Hornet, or any of the multiple antique
motorcycles in what he calls his 'ratty bike shop'. Of course more than
likely he will be at work on another piece of art or practicing his
guitar. Either way, work or play, sit a spell, and learn the Texas art
of 'spinning a yarn'.~Janet
